When the call for admission to the Master in Journalism and Multimedia Communication is going to be published?

What is the Master’s registration procedure? What documents do I need to submit? What are the deadlines?
Starting from May 23, 2023 and by October 16, 2023, candidates must attach the following documents to their application for registration to the selection:
- Degree certificate or self-certification pursuant to P.R. n. 445/2000, reporting in the latter case, the type of degree, the name of the University where it was obtained, the date of achievement, the grade and the degree class;
- If holding a foreign qualification, a degree certificate accompanied by a translation into Italian provided by the diplomatic representation and the declaration of value, Diploma Supplement, or statement of comparability of the final university qualification issued by ENIC-NARIC centers.
- Curriculum vitae et studiorum;
- – Certifications and attestations proving the possession of qualifications that may lead to additional points:
- – Possible registration with the National Order of Journalists as a publicist, certified by an order certificate or complete photocopy of the membership card.
- – An international certification attesting knowledge of foreign languages at least at level B2 issued by certifying bodies as identified by the MIUR Director’s decree of December 19, 2017.
- – Possible final diploma from specialization and enhancement courses in subjects useful for the practice of journalism.
- – An essay, in journalistic style, of no more than 3,600 characters in length, illustrating the candidate’s choice of the journalism profession today.
- – A photocopy of a valid identity document.
With a degree obtained from a foreign university is it possible to enroll in the Master?
Yes, any qualification equivalent to a three-year or master’s degree allows access to the selections and registration. In general, any three-year degree referred to in Ministerial Decrees 509/1999 and 270/2004 or are in possession of a specialist degree pursuant to Ministerial Decree 509/1999 or a master’s degree pursuant to Ministerial Decree 270/2004 or an old system degree (prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99) Foreign qualification comparable in level, nature, content and academic rights to a first or second level degree, and are in possession of the original final qualification (or certified copy) of university studies or a replacement certificate for all legal purposes, Diploma Supplement, as well as the Declaration of value or attestation of compatibility of the final university qualification, issued by the ENIC-NARIC centers.
Is the language certificate mandatory?
For the two-year period 2023-2025, an international certification attesting knowledge of foreign languages at least at level B2 is required, issued by the certifying bodies as identified by the Decree of the Director of MIUR of 19 December 2017;

Are there age limits to participate in the selections and attend the Master?
There is no age limit.
What are the entry requirements?
Eligible candidates for selection are those who:
A) Have one of the following qualifications:
- – A three-year degree as per D.M. 509/1999 and D.M. 270/2004, or a specialist degree as per D.M. 509/1999 or a master’s degree as per D.M. 270/2004, or a degree from the previous system (prior to D.M. 509/99).
- – A foreign qualification comparable in level, nature, content, and academic rights to a first or second-level degree, and possess the original (or certified copy) of their final university qualification or a legally valid substitute certificate, Diploma Supplement, as well as the Declaration of Value or statement of comparability for the final university qualification issued by ENIC-NARIC centers.
B) Have the requirements set out in Law No. 69 of 3 February 1963 for registration in the register of trainees; The degree must be obtained by the academic year 2022/2023 (no later than the extraordinary session of spring 2024). Candidates who, at the time of submitting the application, have not yet obtained the required degree but already have a certain date for the final discussion at their University, can attach a letter signed by the supervisor proving the agreed date for the degree.
How the selection tests are conducted?
The selection tests consist of 1) Evaluation of qualifications. The following will be considered:
- score of the bachelor’s degree and any master’s degree;
- attendance of specialization or improvement courses useful for the practice of journalism;
- possible registration in the Register of Journalists;
- certified knowledge of foreign languages
2) The written tests consist of:
- Development of a current topic chosen by the candidate from those indicated by the examining commission (60 lines of 60 characters);
- summary of a long article or several agency releases in a maximum of 15 lines;
- answering quizzes on general knowledge topics;
3) The oral exam consists of the assessment, by a teacher or a native language expert, of the candidate’s mastery of the English language and an individual and attitudinal interview with the members of the Commission on current topics and on the candidate’s culture, experience and personality.
Is attendance mandatory?
Yes, attendance is mandatory for a total of 80% of the hours.
What are the criteria for obtaining full or partial scholarships?
The granting of scholarships will be based on transparency criteria that combine the merit of students and their economic needs in a framework of promoting equality and diversity. The scholarships are accessible to all participants. The amount of each individual scholarship will reduce the amount of the installment pro rata, in the manner that will be indicated by the Secretariat of the Master.
How will the two-year period unfold? Program, laboratories and internships.
The two-year period includes over 3000 hours of lectures and laboratories. Editorial activities and 600 hours of internships at the main international and national newspapers. To study the experiences of the two-year period 2021-2023, follow the website and the online magazine Zeta
Is it essential to have previous experience in journalism?
It is not necessary to have previous experience in communication or journalism. The admitted candidates will be trained during the two years of course and journalistic practice and will therefore acquire in our laboratories the new tools required by the profession.
What will the study material for the entrance exam focus on?
Daily reading of newspapers, magazines, quality websites, television and radio information programs provides the candidate with background for the written and oral exam. The book recommended by the Master’s management and the Order of Journalists is “Giornalista italiano. L’esame da professionale in più di 900 domande e risposte”

Can I apply to participate in the Luiss Master selections before having obtained my three-year degree?
Yes, provided that a declaration signed by your thesis supervisor attesting to the graduation date is submitted within the terms prescribed by the Announcement. The degree must be obtained within the academic year 2022-2023 (max: extraordinary session April 2024). Candidates who, at the time of submitting the application, have not yet obtained the required degree but already have a certain date for the final discussion at their University, can attach a letter signed by the supervisor proving the agreed date for the graduation.
Is it possible to be enrolled in a master’s or bachelor’s degree course and attend school at the same time?
No. Upon enrollment in the Master, any other ongoing academic course will cease.
