His main fields of interest include the history of communism, the genocide of the Armenians during the First World War and human rights. He has worked with several magazines and publishing houses. He teaches comparative history and human rights history at the University of Siena, where he is also director of the European Master in &#8220;Human Rights and Genocide Studies&#8221;. He has spent study and teaching periods in Berkeley, Cambridge, Paris, Moscow and Warsaw, where he was for two years cultural attach\u00e9 at the Italian Embassy.
