He is a full professor of political science at the Department of Political Science of Luiss Guido Carli. Director of the Department of “History and Socio-Political Sciences” from 2009 to 2011 at Luiss Guido Carli. At the same Faculty he was a research fellow where he taught in previous years as a lecturer on contract Electoral Sociology and Political Science.

He is a member of the Scientific Directorate and editorial coordination of the Centre for Social Science Methodology established at Luiss Guido Carli.
In 2001 (until 2003), he was appointed Director of the Institute for Sociological Studies at the Faculty of Political Science of Luiss Guido Carli.
He has taught in various capacities at the Universities of Padova (1979-80), Salerno (1981-85), Tampere in Finland (1989) and L’Aquila (1992-94), respectively: Political Science Methodology, Political Science, Local Government and Administration Science.
He teaches political science at the Master’s degree in advanced studies for defence, at the Joint Forces Staff Higher Institute.
He is a collaborator of the Institute for the Italian Encyclopedia, on whose behalf he has edited and updated the entries related to the field of sociology and political science for the Piccola Treccani.
