Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He was the Italian ambassador in Madrid, Moscow and London, where he oversaw relations between Italy and the UK during the difficult period following the vote for Brexit. Graduated in Law at the University of Naples Federico II, he was also first secretary of the permanent representation to the Atlantic Council in Brussels and deputy chief of staff of the Minister for Foreign Affairs. From 2004 to 2006 he was spokesman for the Minister and head of the Farnesina’s press and information service. From 2011 to 2013 he was diplomatic adviser to the President of the Council of Ministers, Mario Monti, and personal representative of the Prime Minister at the G8 and G20.
