Born on March 16, 1958, he is the editor-in-chief of Avvenire. An Umbrian from Assisi, he has lived for many years between Milan and Rome. An expert in domestic and international politics, he began his career as a reporter at “La Voce”, then continued at “Corriere dell’Umbria”, “La Gazzetta”, “Il Tempo”, until 1994, when he joined “Avvenire”. In the national daily newspaper of Catholic inspiration, of which he was a political editorialist for a long time, he was editor-in-chief first of the central Milanese editorial office and then of the Roman one, in 2007 he became deputy editor and in 2009 director. He has been awarded numerous journalism prizes and is a Commander of Merit of the Italian Republic. From 2011 to 2016, until the cessation of activity of that dicastery of the Holy See, he was a consultant to the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
